Times Of Movement

Sunrise to sunset: Travel on holidays allowed unless stated in permit. Saturday & Sunday movement allowed unless denied by permit.


Restrictions

Determined on a case-by-case basis & are written on permit

Spring weight restrictions aren’t at the same time each year–they are determined by the weather.  Weights & times will be posted when restrictions are in effect.


When Pilot/Escort Vehicle is Required

















Requirements for Pilot/Escort Vehicle

Vehicle must be registered private motor vehicle or truck, weight not to exceed 19,800 lbs.

Lights: At least 1 roof light capable of being seen at least 328’ in normal daylight. Lights are required at night.

Signs: “D” sign, “Wide Load” sign or “Long Load” sign. Escorts of oversize loads should have “Wide Load” or “Long Load” sign. Escorts of overwidth and overlength load should use the “Wide Load” sign.

*Contact the Department of Highways and Public Works for specific reauirements on sign construction.

Flags: Red flags placed on all 4 corners or projections of the vehicle, at least 1’ square are required on all overwidth and overlength vehicles & loads during daylight hours.  Requirements for pilot cars not noted.

Additional equipment: 2-way radio communication required between all vehicles when 2 escorts are used.
