WYOMING PILOT CAR REGULATIONS
When Permit Is Needed
Over 8'6" wide, over 14' high, over 60' long

Special Information Needed
Company must call for clearance when 150 miles from state line

Times Of Movement
Daylight hours only except for the following (which must be properly signed & lighted): a combo more than 60' long but not more than 85'; up to 10' wide on interstate highways only
Loads requiring pilots cannot move on the following holiday/holiday weekends: New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas

When Pilot/Escort Vehicle is Required

On primary & secondary highways:
110' or more long, 14' or more wide, or will extend to the left of center
On interstates:
Widths 15' or more

Requirements for Pilot/Escort Vehicle
Vehicle must be licensed-no motorcycles
Lights: revolving amber, amber strobe, or 2-way flashing amber lights mounted on top of vehicle
Must be at least 4” in diameter & be clearly visible for 500’ from front & rear sof vehicle
Signs: “Oversize Load” sign visible to oncoming traffic; 5’ x 10” high; 1” brush stroke black lettering 8” high, on yellow background
Flags: 2 red or fluorescent orange flags mounted on a staff at each side of sign; at least 12” square
Additional equipment: left outside mirrors; 2-way radio communication; emergency triangles; extra flags; minimum 5lb. B,C fire extinguisher
